kelbot ◖⎚∠⎚◗
Ahhh, so they put out some more detailed info on the new #Pebble watches. It turns out that the Core 2 Duo model is going to be literally the Pebble 2. Like they found a supplier that still had stock of most of the parts from the original Pebble 2. Unfortunately this means the issue with the buttons falling apart will still be a thing. Though they say they have made a slight tweak to improve their durability a little.

Preslav Rachev
As for why the #Pebble Core Time 2 isn't for me, either — with that price tag, we're entering in Garmin's territory, and we all know that Garmins are unbeatable in terms of features, customizations, never-ending battery life, etc.

At the same time, I am fully aware that Pebble is not the same sort of mass-market product, and can't afford to slash prices with clever sales or supply-chain tricks.

Preslav Rachev
I totally dig the black-and-white aesthetic of the #Pebble Core 2 Duo, but the lack of a heart-rate monitor is a bit too much of a miss for my taste. Given that Pebble is targeting a large part of the hacking, modding, and tinkering folks, it just severely limits what you can do with it, IMO. I'd have much rather preferred them upping the price to $169 for a C2D with an integrated HR sensor. I would have bought it in the spot.

https://store.repebble.com/

Janet Vertesi
I am still, to this day, faithfully wearing my #pebble. A smartwatch from a time before the personal data economy, before Google erased their “don’t be evil” motto, before the world tilted completely askew. It offers true and total data sovereignty on my wrist. It does everything I need it to do and nothing I don’t know about. Also unbeatable battery life, even a decade on.

I love my Pebbles and I am so thrilled it to see this project BACK when we need it most!

https://ericmigi.com/blog/introducing-two-new-pebbleos-watches
