Sabre Θ∆ :nonbinary:<p>So question for those in AV, live events, etc. out there (hoping for input/thoughts &lt;3)</p><p>How on earth do you break into the industry when you've only had a few contracts ever plus a degree in the field? </p><p>"Who I know" hasn't been able to help me so far and when I've signed up as an ad hoc contractor kind of thing, no jobs ever came to my phone until they took me off their list &gt;.&gt;</p><p>I do this stuff on a volunteer basis but like...it'd be nice to get more experience and actually know how to get started after 5 years of banging my head against the wall. Particularly interested in live or studio audio stuff, but trained in the video side of things, lighting and enough logistics experience for the bump in/out stuff too</p><p>So yeah, how does one get started in this industry? Should I independently get any extra tickets/qualifications/etc.? And any other tags I could consider adding on to find the right place to ask? :3</p><p><a href="https://bark.lgbt/tags/FediHire" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FediHire</span></a> <a href="https://bark.lgbt/tags/GetFediHired" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GetFediHired</span></a> <a href="https://bark.lgbt/tags/liveevents" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>liveevents</span></a> <a href="https://bark.lgbt/tags/AudiovisualProduction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AudiovisualProduction</span></a> <a href="https://bark.lgbt/tags/AV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AV</span></a> <a href="https://bark.lgbt/tags/AudioVisual" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AudioVisual</span></a></p>

Bvlbancha Public Access<p>The Nu Alliance Project, a partnership of Bvlbancha Public Access, Dillard University, and the The New Orleans Foundation for Francophone Culture, invites you to an free public evening celebration of the aesthetics and iconography of Indigenous and African cultures on Tuesday, Jan 21, 2025.</p><p>The project underscores the intricate relationships among Native American, and African-descended peoples in Louisiana. Through storytelling, art, and exchange, the Nu Alliance Project aims to transform cultural divides into bridges, honoring Black and Native heritage. The Wolof word ñu, meaning “we," and the ‘Uma word núah, meaning "to walk," aligns with the cultural interweaving born from forced migrations and shared histories of racism/colonialism. “Pattern Recognition,” seeks to create a transformative space where “we walk together.”</p><p>More info: <a href="https://bvlbanchapublicaccess.substack.com/p/pattern-recognition" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">bvlbanchapublicaccess.substack</span><span class="invisible">.com/p/pattern-recognition</span></a></p><p><a href="https://indigenousgulf.online/tags/IndigenousGulf" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>IndigenousGulf</span></a> <a href="https://indigenousgulf.online/tags/IndigenousCreatives" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>IndigenousCreatives</span></a> <a href="https://indigenousgulf.online/tags/HBCU" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HBCU</span></a> <a href="https://indigenousgulf.online/tags/LiveEvents" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LiveEvents</span></a> <a href="https://indigenousgulf.online/tags/NOLA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NOLA</span></a> <a href="https://indigenousgulf.online/tags/Louisiana" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Louisiana</span></a> <a href="https://indigenousgulf.online/tags/Indigenous" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Indigenous</span></a> <a href="https://indigenousgulf.online/tags/CulturalArt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CulturalArt</span></a> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/noladon" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>noladon</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/blackmastodon" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>blackmastodon</span></a></span></p>
