Before I go nuke, anyone willing to take a stab at this #Linux server with me?
Original issue was "login incorrect" when any login was used. Attempting repairs resulted in it not booting, dropping to emergency shell.
Distro is OpenSuse Tumbleweed, configed to boot to tty.
Instead of trying to cram it all in to a Fedi thread, I have Telegram and Matrix. Since I can't ssh, it'll be a little tedious to relay output, no copy paste.

Fun fact I just discovered: zram-tools on Debian defaults to using 50% of your system's RAM when installed and uses a completely different configuration file from Arch/others (/etc/default/zramswap instead of /etc/systemd/zram-generator.conf)

My whole system was suddenly bogged down when I did a memory intensive operation and I was just so confused, lol.

So if you install zram, make sure it's using the right configuration because that default of 50% is insane and is guaranteed to bog most systems the moment you do something intensive!

Help! #Boot / #GRUB advice:

I have a relatively new laptop. Recently when rebooting it just went to the GRUB bash-like interface rather than booting.

99 times out of 100 when rebooting the laptop doesn't recognize any USB key is plugged in and goes straight to GRUB recovery. #EFI boot sees the drives EFI files though.

1 in 100 times the whole thing boots just fine from either the drive or USB key.

BIOS hard drive diagnostics says it's fine.

Any ideas how to troubleshoot?

Si usás Linux y extrañas poder jugar juegos de Windows, o si no te pasás definitivamente a Linux por esa razón, tengo buenas noticias para vos.
