I have been using #Inkscape for over 15 years, and I have told uncountable people to use it. But in recent years it somehow get worse with every new version

Lade ich sie in #Inkscape (1.4) werden aber wohl die Filter nicht korrekt verarbeitet. Kann mir da vielleicht jemand auf die Sprünge helfen, wieso das der Fall ist und wie man das korrigieren kann?

2 things:

1. why is #Inkscape loading ALL of the symbols installed? in linux this is quite a big package, so it takes some time to start. i would think that even if such option is selected in the tab when quitting the app, it should default to "document's only" symbols. because this affects the new (blank) documents as well

2. why when i open a working document is it telling me that this or that font "is not available" and will be replaced with that one (exactly the same, obviously installed) and selecting the "faulty" text?

btw, while loading like this, it shows a very pixelated and enlarged image of the document. it also occurs briefly during normal loading if the files is big.

I want to have a character's head coming out a frame/shape (a la the Disney VHS spines from the Old Times). I feel like there should be an easy way to do this, but so far all I've got is making a shape, pasting the character, pasting another shape on top, and kind of masking out the character. Doesn't feel optimal so I thought I'd ask. #help #artist #

Standard interchange image format for Open Source DTP

Hi people,

with all the mayor GUI #DTP software reaching their peak: #GIMP, #Scribus and #Inkscape; and the well established #TeX software #ConTeXt and #SpeedataPublisher, and #ImageMagick we need a serious discussion about which image format we should adopt that works seamlessly across all these applications and it is generally accepted in the press workflow, whereas is embedded or not into a PDF file.

It should be something that has good quality, supports #CMYK and Alpha channels and it is #opensource friendly and perhaps an #openstandard.

I would dare to say that perhaps jpeg2000 matches most of them, it exists from a very long time and can be adopted as common ground, however it is need a combined effort, if what I am writing makes sense for you.

ImageMagick supports it, Gimp 3 currently doesn't, #LuaTeX and #LuaMetaTeX neither. I guess that Inkscape once it will be able to export in CMYK it will decide which format using to store images in CMYK with alpha into a PDF.

It would be very beneficial if we can adopt a format that works everywhere and it is press friendly, thanks.
