Pepijn Bruienne<p>Weekend tinkering: build an absolutely non-THX-certified <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Dolby" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Dolby</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Atmos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Atmos</span></a> 7.1.4 setup with nothing but the Music app, Audio Midi Setup (AMS) and a bunch of disparate DACs, amps and speakers all handling some of the 12 channels. The relative magic here is that AMS will do the appropriate Atmos decoding which allows mapping of 5.1.2 or 7.1.4 channels to output devices of choice, grouped in an arbitrary aggregate virtual output device. Afterwards all that's left is a little latency correction with <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/AudioHijack" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AudioHijack</span></a> and we're off! <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/LFG" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LFG</span></a></p>
🇨🇦Samuel Proulx🇨🇦<p><span>A </span><a href="https://fed.interfree.ca/tags/music" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" class="hashtag" target="_blank">#music</a><span> question some of my </span><a href="https://fed.interfree.ca/tags/musician" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" class="hashtag" target="_blank">#musician</a><span> followers might be able to answer: what’s the difference between stems and tracks? Recently AI has been talking a lot about stems for music. And apparently people who make </span><a href="https://fed.interfree.ca/tags/dolby" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" class="hashtag" target="_blank">#dolby</a><span> or Spatial Audio remasters want them. But my tiny non </span><a href="https://fed.interfree.ca/tags/musical" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" class="hashtag" target="_blank">#musical</a><span> brain can’t understand how stems and tracks are different. I know that tracks are, like, in a multitrack editor like audacity you could have one track for vocals, and maybe one track for each instrument. And AI websites that offer stems seem to do the same thing?Did the AI people just reinvent multitrack recording and call tracks stems?</span></p>
