Jan Beta<p>Easter present for the kid: new case for the <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Nintendo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Nintendo</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/DSlite" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DSlite</span></a>. The old case had a broken hinge, plus the new one has a nice <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Hokusai" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Hokusai</span></a> Kanagawa wave print (which the kid loves).<br>Fiddly business replacing the case on these! The tiny springs on the shoulder buttons really tested my patience! 😅</p>
JordiGH<p>I need some hardware advice.</p><p>I recently re-assembled my DS Lite. The bottom screen flickers very slightly and has faint horizontal lines across it. It's not really visible at all except at certain illumination levels, like a black box with a bright background.</p><p>I tried disconnecting and re-connecting the screen three times in case I might have accidentally attached its ribbon cables wrong, but the slight problem persists. There are cheap replacements online for about 20 USD, although the reviews say they have bad electrical insulation and I should add some electrical tape to them.</p><p>What would you recommend I do?</p><p><a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/NintedoDS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NintedoDS</span></a> <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/DSLite" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DSLite</span></a> <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/hardware" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hardware</span></a> <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/repairs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>repairs</span></a> <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/Retrogaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Retrogaming</span></a></p>
Mike [SEC=OFFICIAL]<p>Well at least if I can't move around much, I have plenty to keep me from getting bored. I fixed/rebuilt another DS Lite!</p><p>This was mostly leftover parts. One of the broken ones I got has this nice Pokemon case (reproduction, looks like someone tried to do a DIY case swap and fucked it up).</p><p>Anyway, I got a few more bits and did some dodgy repairs on a board that had also seen some bad times with a previous owner ... and it's now a complete and working console!</p><p><a href="https://social.chinwag.org/tags/retrogaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retrogaming</span></a> <a href="https://social.chinwag.org/tags/nintendo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>nintendo</span></a> <a href="https://social.chinwag.org/tags/DSLite" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DSLite</span></a></p>
HBMWhenever I come across a worn-down DS, I like to replace hinges, screens, and try to spiff them up a bit. The biggest upgrade I like to perform is replacing the proprietary Nintendo charging port with a standard USB Type-C port. This allows one greater freedom for charging their DS and using it on the go.<br> <br> That being said, the DS I use the most is my red and white 2DS, which also has a USB-C port.<br> <br> There's some fitment issues with the replacement case on the middle DSL. I'll replace it with another shell at some point ᛉ<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/nintendo?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#nintendo</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/dslite?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#dslite</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/modding?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#modding</a>
