You can set up the *DAVs in the <a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/KOrganiser" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KOrganiser</span></a> &amp; <a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/KAddressBook" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KAddressBook</span></a> components. Note I run <a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/Nextcloud" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Nextcloud</span></a>, and <a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/KOrganiser" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KOrganiser</span></a> will add both the <a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/CalDAV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CalDAV</span></a> &amp; <a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/CardDAV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CardDAV</span></a> at the same time to both apps. These apps can be run separately, or seamlessly as part of <a href="https://mastodon.au/tags/Kontact" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Kontact</span></a> - up to you.</p><p>It will handle the multiple accounts easily (I currently have four), but only two identities.</p><p> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@eliasp" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>eliasp</span></a></span></p>
Ojocle Olonam<p>I was always surprised why there is not a way to sync <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/calendars" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>calendars</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/contacts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>contacts</span></a> in <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/android" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>android</span></a> without an app. <br>Although there are FOSS apps that work well, I'd expect that such a basic feature would be something the OS would do out of the box, specially considering the OS already provides an abstraction for "accounts". <br>For <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/degoogled" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>degoogled</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/androidROM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>androidROM</span></a> it makes even more sense, since most likely users will sync contact and calendar from a "custom" <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/caldav" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>caldav</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/carddav" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>carddav</span></a> service.<br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/grapheneos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>grapheneos</span></a></p>
Yehor 🇺🇦<p>I just realized I could move my calendar and contacts from <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Fastmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fastmail</span></a> to <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/SynologyNAS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SynologyNAS</span></a> now. Because iPhones support <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/CalDav" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CalDav</span></a> and <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/CardDav" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CardDav</span></a> out of the box without any third party apps!</p><p>Yes, I know there is <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/davx5" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>davx5</span></a> for <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Android" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Android</span></a>. I used it for <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Fastmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fastmail</span></a> calendar and contacts sync, but it just doesn’t feel stable enough for such a critical data.</p><p>Yes, I know you hadn’t any issues with it 5 years in a row. Still.<br><a href="https://techhub.social/tags/selfhosted" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>selfhosted</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/selfhosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>selfhosting</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/selfhost" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>selfhost</span></a></p>
Paepke<p>TIL or relearned that the <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Cyrus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Cyrus</span></a> mailserver I use for decades can also act as <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/caldav" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>caldav</span></a> and <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/carddav" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>carddav</span></a> server. Even <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/webdav" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>webdav</span></a> is supported all including its acl system. <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://fosstodon.org/@davx5app" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>davx5app</span></a></span> works instant but as stated otherwise my <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/iphone" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>iphone</span></a> from which I want to migrate does not connect. So plan B is to connect <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/davx5" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>davx5</span></a> to icloud and migrate that way. Am stil wondering what I'm doing wrong nevertheless</p>
Frederic<p>I'm looking for a way to <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/backup" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>backup</span></a> my calendars and contacts (via <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/CalDAV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CalDAV</span></a> and <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/CardDAV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CardDAV</span></a>), but `vdirsyncer` is kind of a pain when a calendar or address book is added/removed and requires tedious manual intervention each time.</p><p>Is there a simpler/better tool for automated backups?</p><p><a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Homelab" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Homelab</span></a></p>

Mark Heftler<p>I'll be sharing updates on my <a href="https://esq.social/tags/bigtech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bigtech</span></a> <a href="https://esq.social/tags/modestdivestment" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>modestdivestment</span></a> as they happen, but right now I'm looking for a secure and private <a href="https://esq.social/tags/contacts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>contacts</span></a> and <a href="https://esq.social/tags/calendar" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>calendar</span></a> <a href="https://esq.social/tags/cloud" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cloud</span></a> option. Ryan Peters<p>I'm looking to replace <a href="https://social.binarydad.com/tags/nextcloud" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>nextcloud</span></a> with something different. I use it for files, <a href="https://social.binarydad.com/tags/caldav" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>caldav</span></a>, and <a href="https://social.binarydad.com/tags/carddav" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>carddav</span></a>. I don't need a single solution for all 3, but recommendations for: </p><p>1. Files replacement (seafile, etc)<br>2. CardDAV and/or<br>3. CalDav</p><p>All 3 solutions can be separate and FOSS.
