No notice that this would happen; my employer told me when they called to explain why they couldn't pay me or offer more shifts. They didn't already have my fingerprints because I have never intentionally broken a law. They stopped my employer from giving me any more shifts at uni until I paid £130 I didn't have for the privilege. Got my pay eventually. There was no fucking choice if I wanted to remain here legally. And then the BRP share codes became a requirement in years since. My prospective employer kindly let me know mid-paperwork following successful interview.
