#30DaysOfBiking Day 10:
Today is cool (45F, 7C) cloudy and damp feeling, but almost no wind. I rode my #bike to double appointments, coffee with the hockey guys, and a tech consult at the same coffee shop after. The challenge was road construction AND a water main break which led to a significant detour. Then after lunch I rode my #ebike to Menards to get some plastic tubing to repair our backyard water fountain. A total of 18 miles.

“Kyle Ranson, CEO of southeast #Portland-based apparel company Showers Pass and founder of electric #bike brand Vvolt… said he’s got a shipment worth $1 million waiting at a port in China that would cost him about $1.2 million just to clear customs.

For now, the plan is to sell through existing inventory and hope that provides enough cash flow to survive… Ranson says if customers are feeling sympathetic, the best thing they can do is make a purchase.” #BikeTooter bikeportland.org/2025/04/09/lo

#30DaysOfBiking Day 9:
I made the fortunate decision to wait until after lunch to go for a ride. It was cloudy all morning, but minutes after I started my ride, the sun came out so it was warmer and more pleasant than expected. I rode my road #bicycle out to Eyota and then up the Great River Ridge State Trail to Viola and then back home for 38 miles. There's a major Interstate/US Highway interchange closed here, and I noticed more traffic on the county roads w/ out of state plates.

My first post as a member of the #FediverseCyclingClub!
I was late finishing at work yesterday, was hungry, fancied some #sglodion, so went in search. There’s a BK near-ish, but I thought “no! Support the independent chip shops” so nipped over to #BarryIsland. Boofy’s was closed, and the q at Finnegans was out the door, so I came back to the mainland and lucked out at Island Chips on Broad Street…and the phot illustrates the results. strava.app.link/GhZbZHMxqSb

“I'm a cyclist in Davis and grew up in the East Bay. The
publication wants me to focus on the East Bay in my writing as other
parts of the Bay are better represented already among their other
writers. Would also like some info about biking and the environment
and about infrastructure.

“Is anyone here part of a cycling group in the East Bay, or do you know
of one, and could I interview you over the phone/email or in person if
you're in Davis? Would love to help promote and advocate for
bicycling!

Thank you,

Cristina

(Edit: Just passing this along, not doing the article.) Looking for #cyclists in the #EastBay to help a reporter (Cristina) doing a cycling and climate resiliency article:

“Hi all, I'm a freelance journalist putting together a story on cycling
for climate resilience publication Knee Deep Times
(kneedeeptimes.org). They're a SF Bay Area online news site focused on
infrastructure, science, and policy that will help the SF Bay navigate
and weather climate change.

“I'm writing about cycling and ways to encourage it or make it easier
and safer through infrastructure. Have talked with a Bike East Bay
representative and got some useful info about the upcoming greenway
path from Fremont to Lake Merritt BART, but would love to hear more
perspectives, anecdotes, etc to fill my piece out into a story.
Something interesting, some kind of intriguing character who bikes or
story about someone's cycling adventures.”

#30DaysOfBiking Day 8:
This evening I lead the first group social ride for WeBikeRochester, and it was a good success. The evening was warmer than it had been the past couple days, and with the sun and light wind, it was very comfortable for those dressed appropriately. We had about 18 riders, and had a nice social gathering at a local establishment afterward. The ride home was after sunset and its been awhile since I've ridden after dark.

Some days you accidentally program turn signals for your bike when all you meant to do was flash some already written code onto a different microcontroller.

Obviously need to move this from the phone to some controls on the handlebars.
