Stockholm gains 5 minutes 19 seconds of daylight today, but we lost 60 minutes of sleep because DST went into effect last night.

Sure, I prefer the sun setting later, but the sun would set at the same time today in a month from now anyway if we stayed on standard time.

And does anyone have a strong preference for sunrise at 3 am over 2 am in June? No. This change ritual is silly. Finish the job, EU Council!

I've been waking early of late. Part of the cause is likely the mornings getting lighter.

Now, whilst the UK's shift to DST (30th March) will partially reverse that, this will not be a good thing, because it just means I'll go through the same thing *again* when morning light levels have shifted by another hour.

And I know I'll struggle for a few days to a week with the "one hour less sleep" due to the change.

Abolish DST ! The switching is more of a problem than any benefit from, in effect, shifting business hours!

Timely reminder when communicating time zones:

The US east coast is now on EDT (Eastern Daylight Time)—not EST (Eastern Standard Time).

Use EDT when you mean NYC time—until it falls back to EST on November 2.

Several countries (Jamaica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru) and parts of countries (Mexico, Brasil) are always on EST because they do not observe daylight saving time.
